Fall for Taste
Our pre-holiday newsletter
Good day food friends! It’s been a busy and beautiful Fall in Wellington County so far. We’re just past our 4th Birthday, and very proud to be on the verge of touring almost 1600 people. Guests ranging from 9 countries, 11 U.S. States, and 9 Canadian provinces. A reminder that all of these repeat visitors (you?) can book any upcoming tours with the discount code TasteAgain on checkout and receive 10% off. Don’t forget to check our calendar to see an event that fits your schedule. And, because we’re a member of a global group of food tours, the same rule applies on checkout using EATTHEWORLD discount code when you visit any of these food tours the world over.
Are you looking for a special (and very tasteful) experience with friends and family? Searching for the perfect team building excursion or want to show off your region to a visiting client? ‘Tis the season for family gatherings and teamholiday parties, after all. We’d like to draw your attention to our private tour page and information on our customised, corporate tours page of the website,
“We want to share our love of this region, and make connections between our agricultural roots and our food & beverage makers today. All of our experiences harness the power of storytelling. We aim to celebrate our regional heritage with you by telling those stories via local flavour, offering you the opportunity to not only learn some little-known lore of the area, but to hear directly from local food and drink purveyors themselves. And then be charmed by the tastes they offer us.”
Have a look at what others are saying about their experience with Taste Detours.
As always, our Gift eCertificates are available online and they never expire! If we haven’t lost you yet, scroll down for a peek at our latest undertakings.
Have you seen our new website? Made possible with support of the Guelph Business Enterprise Centre, and made beautiful by Barking Dog Studios. A true labour of love.
Website
We’ve been brewing some fresh detours since we last wrote. A brand new tour in Elora and a collaborative Brew Detours with Taste of Craft, our Sister-in-Taste. We’re thrilled with both these ventures as we continually push ourselves to share a love of this region. We strive to celebrate, tell the stories of, and make connections between our agricultural roots and our food & beverage makers today. Above all, through all of our offerings – both private, public or corporate – we want to facilitate connections between each of you.
THE GRAND FOOD TOUR ELORA
Brew Detours will offer curated brewery and distillery tours in Wellington County. Varied monthly tours and customised, corporate or private events will transport groups of 15+ on tasting experiences that offer a glimpse behind the scenes at what our best brewers and distillers are making today. Our tours will feature plenty of craft beers, ciders & spirits combined with delicious local food. We’ll share the stories of it all. Tales of brewing history, of the people behind the businesses, their processes and their places, and the connections to the land.
BREW DETOURS
Here’s some good news!
“As a category of the Ontario Tourism Awards of Excellence, these awards recognize tourism industry successes by honouring organizations and individuals who have made significant contributions to tourism in the province. This award recognizes Ontario organizations who have or are working on developing a destination through investment in food, drink and/or agri-tourism.”
So we’re off to the Tourism Industry Association Ontario (TIAO) Gala in Collingwood to see how we did. Frankly, we’re just thrilled to be nominated.
Feast + Flavour Guelph
We embarked on a photo journey in 2019, entitled Feast + Flavour Guelph in which we hired StoryMaker Photography for photoshoots spanning three seasons. With the promise of food, we conscripted groups of friends to see the vision through. Many laughs later, we hope we caught a little slice of the colour, flavour and fun to be had downtown Guelph
The shoots (will) occurred throughout the year in order to capture a variety of Guelph businesses, culture, food and people and landscapes. We wanted to emphasize the diversity of food and tourism experiences to be had in Guelph, and so purposely chose to shoot the food and the friends having fun outdoors. You’ll find the summer and winter images all over our new website, and on our social channels. Here are a few: Feast + Flavour Guelph
